What we used was some air drying clay and pebbles (from where else… the sand pit)
S rolled out the clay using her little wooden rolling pin, that took a bit of work
And then stuck in the pebbles to read Pa Rocks and left it to dry overnight
At the time S had been learning her alphabets and she loved forming them with the pebbles. You could paint the clay or use varnish, we didn’t bother with either.
