I had an old wooden shelf lying around for years, that i moved from the kitchen to the bathroom to the utility area... Finally my husband thought it was time to bid it adieu, but i couldn't - I have a hoarders mentality! So I decided to do it up and re-use it.
But i had to keep my little helper (Read: Daughter) occupied just so that she doesn’t “help” me. So i pulled out some equally old stools, gave her a bucket of paint and got her started.
She loved it and painted it with such flourish, all the while explaining the importance of getting every bit covered
I wanted to give the rack a worn out look, so i started with rubbing some wax on it and then painting on top of it, letting the paint dry and then scrapping it off. That turned out to be really tedious. So instead, I let the paint brush dry and harden (not too much, just a bit) and painted with that. It worked like a charm and I love my little blue corner... I wish i had a before/after picture.
